Meet once-homeless pets who are thriving today — like Ighvee, a dog who lived on the streets, and two "wobbly walker" cats who found someone to accept them for who they are.

For Ighvee, Home is Where Her Heart Is
For Ighvee, a Kelpie/Shepherd mix, life had never been easy. For her and her owner, home was nothing more than a tent alongside a rural road in Georgia. Eventually, Ighvee's owner realized he couldn't provide for his companion and — with her best interest in mind — surrendered her to one of Northeast Animal Shelter's lifesaving partners. Recognizing that Ighvee had sustained significant trauma at some point, they reached out to NEAS for help...

Wobbly Walkers Take a Step Toward Happiness
Wobbly Walkers Take a Step Toward Happiness
We may be biased, but we think cats are pretty special! That's particularly true of sisters Sunny and Flower. Diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia while just bottle babies, the pair arrived at NEAS from our partner in Mississippi and quickly began winning the hearts of our staff with their friendly and funny personalities...

Forever Friends Have Their Wish Come Truee
Forever Friends Have Their Wish Come True
The very best friendships are those that deepen with age and last forever. Such is the case with Jack and Benny, who came to Northeast Animal Shelter from Georgia after their human sadly passed away. Seeing these bonded seniors together, it was clear that they wanted — and needed — to spend every day in each other’s company...

More Lives Saved, Thanks to New Alliance with the MSPCA
More Lives Saved, Thanks to New Alliance with the MSPCA
When animal welfare organizations work together to help more pets and the people who love them, everyone wins. That's the fundamental goal of Northeast Animal Shelter's new affiliation with MSPCA-Angell. With demand for adoptable dogs and cats in New England skyrocketing, combining NEAS' robust animal relocation program with the MSPCA's veterinary, adoption center, and community outreach resources will result in thousands more pets being cared for and adopted than either organization could achieve on its own.

Leave a Legacy of Love
Teresa Contardo's world was filled with critters, at home or oceans away. She believed everything alive was entitled to be loved, and many of the pets that made up her family were adopted from Northeast Animal Shelter. By leaving a sizable donation in her will to our Shelter, Teresa helped secure NEAS' ability to continue to care for homeless animals. You too can make a lasting difference for pets in need by joining our Forever Friends Legacy Society.

Lexi
"Hi, I'm Lexi! I'm happy, wiggly, and so affectionate with my humans. Kisses are my fave, and I’m not afraid to put my paws on your lap for a good snuggle. Not only am I a lovebug, I'm kind of a smarty pants to boot — and will happily show off my "sit" trick for you!"

Luke
"Oh hey there, my name is Luke. I'm a bit of a shy guy, and not a fan of shelter life — it's too scary! That said, I got along quite well with my feline foster siblings — play time was my favorite. My ideal home is one in which I have a little time to settle in."
